Mazes are a type of puzzle where the aim is to get from one designated point to another, usually between entrances, or to or from the "centre". When they are represented as a schematic birds-eye view, they are a visual puzzle.

  • Some mazes are designed so that whilst finding the correct path, a picture will emerge. This picture can be seen best by shading in along the path. These can be done in black and white or full colour, although the latter are more difficult to create.
  • Another variant, especially from a visual puzzle view, requires one to find or avoid an object on the way to the center or exit. Puzzles such as this tend to be themed, or more frivolous in nature than more traditional maze puzzles.
