Sudoku is a logic puzzle in which nine symbols must be placed in a grid so that each row, column and 3x3 box contains exactly one of each symbol. The symbols are almost always the digits 1-9, but the basic puzzle is not a mathematical one. However, some variants are mathematical (see below).
Variants[]
Killer Sudoku[]
In Killer Sudoku puzzles, there are no starting clues. Instead, regions of the puzzle are outlined with dotted boxes and a number. The number indicates what the digits in the region must total to, adding a mathematical element to the puzzle.
Sudoku X[]
The same as normal Sudoku, but the two diagonals must also contain each symbol exactly once.
Samurai Sudoku[]
Samurai Sudoku involves fusing multiple grids so that they have some of their 3x3 boxes in common. This means that solving the puzzle requires simultaneously solving multiple grids.
